I you want to take your pet on holiday to the market town of Northallerton in North Yorkshire, pet-friendly accommodation is available. Northallerton is very popular for shopping, especially on the Market Days, which are Wednesdays and Saturdays. Stallholders set up on the High Street, selling fresh local food and other goods. Mount Grace Priory at Staddlebridge, near Northallerton is a well-preserved Carthusian priory from the 1300s. Learn about the silent order of monks that lived here and tended their herb plot and gardens. Underneath the ruins, stoats live in the passages.
Kids love Kidzplay Northallerton, an indoor play centre that opens seven days a week. This fun centre provides a wavy slide, football court, ball pools and ride-ons and nutritious meals are served in the restaurant. Parents can make use of free Wi-Fi, newspapers and magazines whilst their children have a great time. Away from the play areas, there is also an arts and crafts facility for children.
Grown-ups and kids both love the romantic allure of the steam train and holidaying in the Northallerton area gives you access to the Wensleydale Railway. This heritage railway is a family favourite. It’s one of the longest lines of its kind in the country, and you can see 16 miles of Dales scenery, from Leeming Bar to Redmire. You can take your dog on board too for a small charge (support dogs travel for free) and there is a family ticket. Special events on the railway include family fun events, open days, guided walks and even ‘murder mystery’! A really special treat is the opportunity to learn to drive one of the Diesel Multiple Units, as part of driver experience sessions.
