Self-catering holidays are very popular with dog owners as these accommodations often welcome canine companions with open arms. These cottages will feel like another home to your dog as well as yourself, and you will feel like your holiday has been made complete if you are able to bring your furry friend along with the family. With private gardens for your dog to chase after sticks in, sprawling countryside, moorland and coastline over Yorkshire which are fantastic for taking your pet on long walks and a relaxing living environment, self-catering accommodation is definitely the best choice if you do not want to leave any part of the family behind on holiday!

Yorkshire is one of the most beautiful parts of the UK and it is home to some of the most incredible scenery imaginable. Unsurprisingly, there are plenty of National Parks and beaches to explore in this region, which are all perfect for taking dogs on wonderful walks as you both lap up your new surroundings. One of these National Parks is the North Yorks Moors, home to an abundance of wildlife, a rich cultural heritage and plenty of places to discover and stop off for a picnic with the family. There are gorgeous waterfalls and grassy hills and lots of walking trails, perfect for taking your dog on.

The North York Moors National Park can be found in the north east of Yorkshire. Although home to museums, castles, quaint villages and stately homes, there is also nearly 1,500 miles of walking trails and paths, several of which welcome dogs. During March to July it is advisable to keep your dog on a short lead, however, due to rare birds that often nest on the ground.
